Villa Petriolo is a  prevalently winemaking company, with vineyards located at an altitude of between 150 and 200 meters. The soil is averangely argillaceous, deep and fertile. The dimate, mitigated by the sea winds which from the coast reach these hills, is mild with a minimum change in temperature between day and winters are not too cold.

The good exposure of the vineyards to the sun, contributesto making this land an ideal place for the cultivation of the vine. Sangiovese is the most widely cultivated vine: the renovation of the vine cultivation, started in 2002, has increased the averenge number of plants per hectare to 5600.

In 2003 a vineyard of Colorino was created, an ancient autochthonal vine where Petriolo's historical clones of Petriolo have been planted.
